The King in Yellow

The King in Yellow is a death flag in the game that will trigger once you start romancing a Dark Princess.
Once triggered, you have to complete all the steps before the second feast that takes place the 14th.

It's important to understand that those events will check if your stats are LOW ENOUGH to avoid the danger.
For those which are not playing in Hard and already died or finished the game once, two values might be displayed next to the name of your stats.
The one in parentheses is the one that you have on your current run of the game. It can only be lower than the one that is not in parentheses, and so, it will be the value that the game will use to determine if your stat is low enough to pass the tests during the events.

Step 1: The Traveling Theater

  • If you encountered a Dark Princess and successfully did at least her first event, Kaheroux will say that he heard of a traveling theater that's coming in town during day 8, 9, 10 and 11.
  • Go Wander Around in the Morning to see what the traveling theater looks like (you will gain 1 Charm)
  • You either have the choice to Investigate or to Avoid Risk. Both choice, if succeed, will lead to the event ending and let you progress further:
    • Investigate will lead you to death if you have more than 14 Prowess (you will unlock « Death by mimicry » achievement)
    • Avoid Risk will end the event without any harm do to Kaheroux

Step 2: The One that Lost his Mind

  • Go to the Castle in the Morning to pay a visit to the man that lost his reason and ask him about « The King in Yellow » (you will gain 1 Knowledge)
  • You either have the choice to Ask More or to Leave Him Alone. Both choice, if succeed, will lead to the event ending and let you progress further:
    • Ask More will lead you to death if you have more than 14 Charm (you will unlock « Death by strangulation » achievement)
    • Leave Him Alone will end the event without any harm do to Kaheroux

Step 3: The Copy of the Book

  • Go to the Forest during the Afternoon to get one copy of the forbidden book (you will gain 1 Prowess)
  • You either have the choice to Read the Book or to Destroy the Book:
    • Read the Book will lead you to death if you have more than 18 Knowledge (you will unlock « Locked up in an asylum » achievement)
      • If your Knowledge is equal or lesser than 18 you will acquire the book and will be able to progress further.
    • Destroy the Book will end the event without any harm do to Kaheroux BUT you will not be able to pass the second feast on the 14th.

Final Step: The Stranger in Yellow

This is an automatic event that will start the 14th during the Night

  • If you've done The One that Lost his Mind you will be able to Warn the King or to Watch the Show:
    • By choosing Warn the King you will have to provide a proof:
      • If you've red the copy of « The King in Yellow » during the event The Copy of the Book you will succeed the final step and save the kingdom from this menace (you will gain 1 Prowess, 1 Knowledge and 1 Charm)

If any of the above conditions is not met Kaheroux and the kingdom will perish (you will unlock « Died for seeing the truth » achievement).

The Flux Turner

The Flux Turner is an item that comes with Leap of Love first DLC - Dark Princesses

It's a complex item that let you have control on time
It's really important to be prepared before using it cause the smart little ones who play with time often face disastrous consequences
Remembering the number of times you used it in a day will save you from countless unnecessary deaths

How to get it?

  • Go to the Training Ground, then the Forest, then the Library and finally to the Town. The order doesn't matter as long as you go to those locations in a row
  • Go Wander Around to trigger the special event featuring Reseating Major and pick the option I wish to stay big
    • Choosing I want a quick wedding will propel you 2 days into the future
    • This event won't trigger on Sundays (7th, 14th, 21th, 28th)

How to use it?

  • Each Night, Kaheroux will have the possibility to travel back in time and go through the same day but going to different places
    • It is not possible to use the Flux Turner when there's a night event (Feasts, Wedding Eve, etc.)

Limitations

  • There is "theoretically" no limit to the uses of the Flux Turner
  • It is not possible to redo events that have been done durant the day your going through again
  • It is not possible to do new events that feature a princess that is in another event you've already done this day

Drawbacks

Stat loss

The Flux Turner make you lose stats. Using it one time to go through the same day will make you lose one point in one random stat. Doing it again for still the same day will make you lose two points in random stats (it can be the same twice).
The more you use the Flux Turner to redo the same day the more stats you will lose (up to a maximum of three points lost per use)

Hound of Tindalos

Like it was say earlier, the Flux Turner let you manipulate time, and so, creatures beyound time and reality might be attracted by the pertubations you are causing.
The Hounds of Tindalos will be your worst enemies when you will start using the Flux Tuner. There will be a chance for the Hounds to spot you each time you use the item and if they do they will be there in no time...
However, they cannot find you if you play your shot well...

The Rolling Week

There's a percentage chance that hounds will attack you. From the start this percentage is equal to 0 and can be up to 100.
The hounds will increase this percentage each time you use the Flux Turner more than 5 times on a rolling week.
Take this case:

Let's say I'm using the Flux Turner 1 time on the 2nd.
Then I'm using it 2 times the 3rd and 5 times the 5th.
Finally I'm using it 1 time the 7t.
On a rolling week, starting the 2nd and ending the 9th, I've used the Flux Turner 9 times.
The 10th, if I do not use it, the amount of uses during this rolling week (fron the 3rd to the 10th) will be 8, cause the uses frm hte 2nd will not be count. If I continue to not use the Flux Turner, the number of uses will only be 3 at the 13th (rolling week from the 6th to the 13th)

The Hunt

So, each time you use the Flux Turner more than 5 times on a rolling week, the hounds will gain 10% chance to find you. Those percent cannot be lost once you've got them.
Every uses of the item and only every use of the item, the hounds will have X percent chance to spot you. If they find you, the hunt is on, and from there, you can consider you playthrough done...
Kaheroux will warn you that the hounds are chasing you during a short text in the morning, just after he wake up:

"As I wake, alone in my room, I recall the barking of a dog ."
"Coming from somewhere in the far distance, it woke me in the middle of the night."
"At the time, it stirred bad feelings in me."
"But nothing more happened after that."
"Though it ruined my chances of sleeping soundly the rest of the night."
"What a stupid thought - I'm not prey anymore!"

Once the hounds are hunting, they will take more or less time to find Kaheroux and take him down. At best you have 5 days remaning before they find you. At worst only 2.
It goes without saying that you cannot fool the Hounds of Tindalos by staying on a loop where you go though the same day other and other again. A day done is a day done, there's no difference for them. You are doomed.
However, everything is not lost yet! If you are close enough to the end of the game, you can achieve the feat of marrying a princess before being devour by the hounds. It is a perious operation, but if you are from the ones that seek the achievevement « Marry Alienor, all princesses & all dark princesses in Hard Mode » you might have to try that method.

True Death

It is more than likely that you will die in excruciating pain, torn apart and crushed alive by the sharp fangs of the Hounds of Tindalos.
In which case I regret to tell you that playing in Normal or Easy difficulty will not save you. It is the only death in the game that does not let you carry your stats over (just like in Hard difficulty)
You will unlock the achievement « Caught up by time » though...
